Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to some of the most frequently asked questions regarding rapid antigen test kits.

Rapid antigen tests are used to potentially identify positive COVID-19 cases earlier, which helps reduce the spread of the virus and prevent outbreaks. Rapid antigen tests help identify infectious individuals earlier and can detect the virus before you develop symptoms. While standard PCR tests can cause discomfort and results unavailable for 24-48 hours, rapid antigen tests are simple to use, with results in just 15 minutes.

Anyone over the age of 2 can use a rapid antigen test kit. Although children under the age of 15 should have an adult collect the nasal samples and conduct the test procedures.

A positive result indicates that antigens from the COVID-19 virus have been detected, and the person undertaking the test is very likely to be infected with the virus and should be presumed to be contagious. The person who has returned the positive result must follow current Department of Health guidelines and protocols relevant to your state or territory concerning further testing and self-isolation.

With results provided within minutes, not days, this is a significant benefit to employees whose workplaces require them to return a negative test result before commencing work.
